At JG Plant we have an in depth understanding of the challenges and pressures facing the modern day agricultural, horticultural and construction sectors. This knowledge and experience comes from nearly 50 years as Tractor and Agricultural Machinery specialists.
Our commitment to providing the best quality products to an ever-growing number of clients has been the bedrock of this family run business. Since we were first established in 1966, we have remained a wholly customer service oriented company; a factor that has been instrumental in attracting the very best staff and enabling us to work with leading, high performance brands.
JG Plant was originally set up in 1964 in Taffs Well, Cardiff as a supplier of Whitlock Plant and Equipment. A year later, the company incorporated when it was appointed agents for Bray Engineering Ltd.
As sales grew for both new and second hand equipment and the company’s reputation grew, it was awarded the franchises for Ford tractors and parts, which resulted in an increase in sales at a rate of 50% year on year. Based on an increasing demand for heavy plant and equipment, in 1967 JG Plant hire was established. To accommodate increased growth in sales and equipment hire, the same year, the company moved to larger premises at the Brackla Industrial Estate in Bridgend where it remains today.
Over time, the site has been extended in line with continuous growth enjoyed through developments such as becoming suppliers of leading brands, the Ford franchise, equipment hire, engineering support and parts sales.
JG Plant Today
The company continued to grow into the 21st century under family ownership. By this time, the directors recognised that the time was ripe to sell the business as part of its succession plan for the future.
In 2013, INSCAPES, ground engineering and landscaping specialists who were also based on the Brackla Industrial Estate, approached JG Plant about acquiring the company. Both organisations already had a close working relationship and this acquisition was particularly timely as JG Plant’s current owner, Terry Coles, was about to retire.
The JG Plant board recognised the benefits of this acquisition in terms of the long term sustainability of the company and brand. In addition, this development secured the future of the JG Plant business, safeguarding existing jobs as well as creating new ones; growing into new markets; and ensuring continuity of service to its loyal client base.
In early 2014, INSCAPES relocated to the JG Plant site and has continued operations under this well-known, established brand, with experienced staff and plans for future growth.
Under the new owners, JG Plant continues to operate through association with a brand that shares the same values on which the company was built, and offering further opportunities for growth.
In March 2017, JG Plant Ltd expanded into Herefordshire after recognizing an exciting opportunity to take over the Ravenhill business. As existing New Holland dealers and with a very keen team we instantly felt prepared and eager at the thought of taking on a new challenge. We will continue to deliver a high standard of service to all new and existing customers, suppliers and clients. We feel that both branches of JG Plant will benefit from the integration and work well together by building on each other’s strengths and successes.
JG Plant have experienced extensive growth and success in recent years, we hope to continually improve our performance at both branches in the future.
